From Rabbi David

The rabbis jump through hoops to let Aaron off the hook for the whole Golden Calf episode in this week's Torah portion. They find every excuse to free Aaron from pretty much any responsibility at all. It's a shame because it could have been a powerful lesson to us all.

Learning that our actions matter is a fundamental part of a child's development. Developing the self-awareness and courage to bear responsibility for our actions is a life-long challenge.

At Gan Sinai, we don't shy away from encouraging everyone, teachers and children, to take responsibility for their actions and learn from every moment. Had our children been at Mount Sinai - we probably would have handled it better than Aaron - or at least admitted that we hadn't.
