From Rabbi David

This week's Torah portion, Ki Tavo, begins:

When you enter the land that your God יהוה is giving you as a heritage, and you possess it and settle in it,

you shall take some of every first fruit of the soil, which you harvest from the land that your God יהוה is giving you, put it in a basket and go to the place where your God יהוה will choose to establish the divine name.

As the Israelites are about to enter the Promised Land, Moses reminds them that change isn't easy and that there will be an adjustment period. He teaches us that we all need time to settle in. These past two weeks have been a tremendous time of settling in for all of our students, and, indeed, all of us. It has been so wonderful seeing the children find their way around Gan Sinai and make this their home away from home.

After we get settled, Moses instructs us to bring gifts to show our appreciation for the gifts we have been given. Each of your children is a gift and we are reminded every day how lucky we are to be a part of the Gan Sinai community.
